For AS Level Mathematics, you will study 2 Core modules plus 1 other, in either Statistics or Decision Mathematics. Core Mathematics, 67% of the whole qualification, to include the following. Algebra; coordinate geometry; trigonometry; differentiation and integration. Decision mathematics: This module will develop your skills in logic and teach you the use of algorithms in problem solving. Statistics: Techniques of data analysis and knowledge of the behaviour of data distributions will be extended in this unit.
You should already have GCSE Maths, grade B, higher tier, plus 4 other GCSEs in academic subjects, all at Grade C or above. You will have to sit a diagnostic assessment to see whether this level of study is suitable for you. Mature students may not need the same academic qualifications but will still have to take the diagnostic assessment.
