SIA licence qualifications are our speciality. We’ve been heavily involved in thier delivery since the SIA came into force, and continue to be the leading provider. The SIA qualifications we offer nationally include:

Security Officer: Static guarding, retail guarding, construction site security, office security etc

Door Supervisor: Security on licensed premises, pubs and clubs, special music and sporting events. The licence also covers Security Officer work. This badge is the first step for almost all routes in private security, many holders do not work as door supervisors but instead require the badge work in dog handling, specialist security, civil enforcement and others

CCTV: Operating surveillance cameras able to view any public space. These licenses are held by public and private company CCTV operators, premises owners, and control room operatives.

Close Protection: Protection of persons; their safety, family and property

How Do I Get an SIA Licence?

There are two necessary steps to get licensed.

The first is to pass a criminality check; you are not automatically barred from working if you have a criminal record. Use the SIA criminal record checker to see if you are likely to be eligible: http://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/criminal-record-indicator.aspx

The second requirement is SIA Training. To get licensed you must hold the SIA approved qualification. A19 Skills offers just that. All our courses meet the strict SIA requirements whilst maintaining an informal, non-college atmosphere. It also helps that we’re the best value provider in the UK.

So what happens on the course?

The A19 Skills SIA Training course is straightforward and easy to understand. The training lasts 30 hours over 4 days in a relaxed, informal environment. In running the courses we have two main aims. Firstly we will work with you for as long as it takes to reach the required SIA standard. If you do need to re-sit, there is no additional charge for this.

Secondly, we deliver informative, useful courses. Knowledge is power for security operatives and A19 Skills candidates are offered the knowledge and skills to remain in control regardless of the situation faced.

Working in the Security Industry

Once an SIA programme has been successfully passed you can begin to apply for jobs and employment within the security industry. There’s never been more opportunities in security and it’s one of the only growing employment sectors in the UK. Remember, you can only work whilst holding a valid licence.

In addition, the largest security operation ever staged in the UK will run through the majority of 2012. The London Olympic Games will be secured, in the main, by licensed security staff. This doesn’t just cover official events; all other celebrations, every corporate event, parties and gatherings will need to be secured. The total amount of security staff needed around Games time currently is far higher than supply.
