This course is for those who have studied GCSE science and wish to further their knowledge and understanding in physics, perhaps in preparation for study at a higher level. It covers the following topics include further mechanics, fields, particles, nuclear decay and astrophysics. Students may progress to a broad range of science and engineering degrees including physics, astrophysics, medical physics, electronic/electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Alternatively may find employment in research, engineering or the armed forces.
Students must have 5 GCSEs at grade C or above in appropriate subjects, including English. GCSE maths is required at grade B or above. It is recommended that AS maths is studied alongside AS Physics.
