This course is for those who wish to gain a thorough theoretical understanding of the subject, perhaps in preparation for study at a higher level. It integrates theoretical and practical approaches by requiring candidates to write about their coursework experiences in the synoptic examinations. Topics include textual analysis, audiences and institutions, critical research and media issues and debates. They may progress to higher education to study a programme such as BA (Hons) television production and screen media. Alternatively they may find employment in the media industry, including journalism, audio, TV, film, new media and advertising.
Students must have five GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths and English Language.
