7304 is the required qualification for learners wishing to teach on public funded and/or FE courses within an Associate Teacher role. This is the next-step from the Award in Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (7303), providing progression to the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (7305). It can be assessed at both Level 3 and 4 depending on the students wants and ability. Qualification structure The Certificate comprises three units. The full qualification must total a minimum of 24 credits. The units are: - Planning and enabling learning - Principles and practice of assessment - Equality and diversity What are the entry requirements? Candidates for this course must have completed 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. In addition candidates will need to complete a Level 2 assessment of their Literacy and Numeracy – unless they have O Level (or equivalent passes) in the subject (s). This is arranged and conducted in-house by Aid Training. Candidates for this course should have a good standard of verbal communications skills. Candidates will also be required to have access to, and undertake 30 hours of teaching practice, with a minimum of three hours of observation by the course tutor, or nominated observer. How long is the course? Students will need to attend a three day Part 1 course and a three day Part 2 course. These do not have to be consecutive allowing for more time between courses for students to complete their assignments. How much does it cost? The cost when attending one of our regular “open” courses is £975 + vat. This includes manuals, certification, tea/coffee and on-going help and support during the course. This course is approved by the MOD in support of the ELC scheme. Companies with 5-249 staff maybe able to access funding for this training via Train to Gain.
