Course Description
Course topics include: Is the family in trouble? Is education provision top quality and fair? Is the nation healthy? What's happening to work? Is the environment protected? Do you feel safe, secure and protected? What characterises social life in the twenty first century? Do you want to study Sociology? Discussions and debates will take place around what sorts of problems are of major concern in 21st century society. You will be introduced to some of the major preoccupations of the discipline of sociology and will take part in lively sessions that address what constitute the major social problems in society. The sessions will consider a variety of burning social issues and contemporary social debates. There will be particular focus on questions surrounding education, health and the environment as well as human rights, work and employments, security and safety concerns. Who needs the family? This question will facilitate discussions around social policy and issues concerning social justice. There will be focus on social problems concerning social justice you will develop your understanding, knowledge, insight and enthusiasm for all things related to the study of social life in the twenty first century.
