Our guide to hairdresser training courses

Hairdressing courses cover a range of topics relating to the practical application and understanding of hairdressing in a professional environment, including colouring, health & safety and client consultation. Typically hairdressing courses will be an area of focused study; occasionally however, it will form part of a hairdressing and beauty course. The majority of courses prepare students for professional employment in a hairdressing salon and, therefore, you will need to have the ability to work independently and creatively.

I have just completed this course! It isn't City and guilds but I am awaiting certificate to see what it actually includes and where it is recognised. You do not need a kit although I suggest buying a block, and the basic equipment for a wash cut and blow dry! The course is completely basic with in depth theory but I would not suggest or recommend anyone go out and start a business straight away!! There is no cutting it styling submissions, so I di wonder how they know you are good at cutting. You also have to refer to items in your salon. This course would be brilliant for someone in a salon with experience to help them get their foot in the door and understand more! I am now going to college to study a course which is actually going to teach me everything with someone monitoring of I am doing it correctly! Wowcher have this course for £30 ;)
