Operating largely around the coast of the UK, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency is an organisation committed to monitoring the application of the UK’s maritime safety policy in order to prevent fatalities at sea. It awards qualifications to those working on ships and at sea. Courses accredited by the Maritime Coastguard Agency include general fire prevention courses as well as more specific awards in job-related subjects such as the Shipboard Safety Officer qualification. In addition to this, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency provides round the clock search and rescue services for the UK and internationally.
