Undergraduate Student Story: Computer Animation Why study Undergraduate Computer Animation

Marc is already getting some great work experience in his chosen field of animation, alongside studying all areas of computer animation on his London Met course…

Name:
Marc Wilson
Course: BSc Computer Animation
Institution: London Metropolitan University

‘I looked at a lot of universities when I was at school. It was really important that I enrolled on a course that covered all areas of computer animation. London Met seemed to be one of the very few institutions that did this and so far I have worked with puppets, clay and traditional style animation.

I love the fact that I am based in the centre of the City of London and I’m meeting a really diverse range of people – my classes are filled with students from all over the world and that has certainly been a bonus. The teaching staff is very open and friendly, there is a personal style to their teaching that is warm, motivating but also very professional. The tutors are always on hand to help, not only on practical assignments but also in terms of general careers advice and opportunity.

One of my tutors put me in touch with a sustainable, fair trade clothing organisation called People Tree who needed an animator for their website. I created a short feature for them on the use of pesticides and the increasing pressure from big companies on the third world to keep on using unsustainable products. It was a wonderful learning experience, I met some great people and did good work which is going to be published!’
