Before I came to Lewisham College, I’d applied to the airline Arab Emirates to join their cabin crew but didn’t get accepted. It was a career I’d always wanted, but I needed more insight into the industry to help me get a job, so I enrolled at the College. The Preparation for Airline Cabin Crew Moneque is now flying high in her career, thanks to course in Preparation for Airline Cabin Crew. We practised our customer service by working at the College’s Phoenix Restaurant, and we also learned first aid and got to practise doing things like extinguishing fires.

After the Cabin crew course ended, I managed to get a job as a member of cabin crew with Arab Emirates. I now live in Dubai, travel the world and earn a tax free salary. When I started the job I was very nervous and I was just praying there weren’t any emergencies!

I think I’ve been to almost every continent now. My favourite place I’ve been to was Jinja, a resort next to Lake Victoria in Uganda. The travel’s obviously a good part of the job, but I don’t think it’s the best bit. The reason I applied to Arab Emirates is that they employ people from all over the world, so you’re working alongside people from different countries and cultures.

Although the company doesn’t require you to speak a second language, I’m currently learning Arabic and Spanish. The company looks after us well. You get discounted flights and your accommodation and transport is provided. When you join a company they teach you all about their policies but the basics are the same wherever you work, and you learn them on the course at Lewisham College. Now I’ve got my dream job.
