Melisa has excelled on her international business course, and tells us how the course structure, staff and high quality lectures made her success possible…
Name: Melisa Edirisinghe
Institution: Kensington College of Business
Course: International Business Diploma
I chose my course because it is shorter and cheaper than the average three-year degree programme. Also, if I decided not to continue up to the third year, I was still able to exit the programme with the certificates awarded for each level of the course. I wanted to obtain a recognisable qualification and increase my job opportunities in a highly competitive market. Since I am an international student, this qualification is even more recognisable back home in Sri Lanka. My international business course was partly funded by family and partly by myself – I was able to save enough money from my part-time job to pay for the second year.
The international business courses were comprehensive and I enjoyed the lectures. The lecturers were very attentive to each and every one of the students and we were given an opportunity to speak to them and clarify any issues we might have regarding the lectures. I really enjoyed meeting new people and making friends.
Since it was a fast-track programme there was no break between the courses, although the option is still available for anyone who might want to have a summer vacation during the course. I was able to gain a first class in my degree, which has given me a competitive advantage when applying for various jobs. I hope to put in to practice all the things that I have learned throughout my course at KCB and build my future education and career on this foundation.
The staff and lectures at KCB are an immense credit to the organisation. The helpful and friendly service of the staff and the kindness and professionalism of the lecturers are the main advantage of the college.
