‘Before I took Designer Courses’ Handbag Making course, I had searched in shops for a handbag to buy, but couldn’t find what I was looking for – so I decided to do a Fashion Accessories course and make a bag myself!

Although I have a design background, I was new to sewing so it was also an opportunity to learn a useful skill in a short space of time. I liked that we started from scratch and were taken through a structured design process, which included research, generating ideas, making our own pattern, selecting our materials, learning different techniques to add specific features, and construction. Everyone in the class came out with something completely unique and individual, not based on a template. This is why I enjoyed the course – the end result is a product of your own work and inspiration.’
