Pursuing her love of plants, Duan Juan Li enrolled on the BTEC National Certificate in Horticulture at Capel Manor College. She hopes that this will be the springboard for an exciting career in horticulture & garden design.
Brought up on a farm in China, Duan Juan Li grew up with a passion for plants and nature. A friend recommended Capel Manor to her to develop her knowledge of horticulture and landscaping. She decided to enrol at the College’s Enfield centre, where the 30 acres of gardens open to the public provide an inspirational atmosphere and an invaluable resource to support students learning.
Proving to be very good at the practical elements of her course, Li decided to continue on to do a Foundation Degree in Garden Design. On completion she wants to do a degree in garden design and landscaping, and plans eventually to return to China to build a career designing and constructing public spaces.
‘I want to work as a garden designer because it would enable me to combine doing something I really love, with raising awareness of the benefits plants and nature can bring to people.’
