About Brunel University
Business And Administrative Studies
Brunel Business School is one of the largest schools within Brunel University offering a full range of taught programmes in business and management at postgraduate level as well as exciting PhD opportunities.
In keeping with the ethos of Brunel's namesake, the Victorian pioneer and innovator, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, all postgraduate programmes within the School are designed to add value to your first degree by encouraging an advanced, integrated, and critically aware examination of organisations’ changing and demanding commercial needs whether they be in the field of marketing or branding, human resource or general management.
The School now offers a total of seven taught Master's including innovative MScs in Corporate Brand Management and Global Supply Chain Management. The Brunel MBA, which is accredited by the Association of MBAs, goes from strength to strength.
Brunel Business School students therefore acquire the knowledge and skills required to understand management and the implications of the global economy necessary for a successful career in business.
The Business School is home to some 100 academic and administrative staff and around 2500 students of over 100 different nationalities resulting in a genuinely multicultural student environment.
Strong links with industry and professional bodies are maintained and Brunel Business School also works with local, national, and international organisations to provide research and consultancy.
Academic Strengths
The Business School is proud of the quality of its research and teaching, epitomising the University's focus on research-led teaching. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), 45 per cent of the School's submissions was ranked as either 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'; 80 per cent of the School's research output achieved international standard (4*-2*).
The School is home to six internationally-recognised research centres. Recent research topics have included how businesses are innovating to meet the combined social, economic and environmental challenges of the societies in which they operate; the emotional interactions between service providers and 'consumers' in certain areas of the public sector; the branding of professional services; the internationalisation strategies of firms in emerging markets and the factors critical to the success of e-government.
Facilities
Brunel Business School is located on a single campus in West London with easy access to central London, the motorway network and Heathrow. Everything is close at hand and students can take advantage of the £250m that Brunel has recently invested in its facilities. Students now enjoy a larger library, better bars and eateries, more on campus halls and Olympic-standard sports facilities. Approval has now been given for the construction of a new landmark building that will become home to the Business School from 2012.
Entry Requirements and application procedures
Applicants are usually required to have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) in management, business studies or a cognate discipline. Three years' management experience is required for the MBA.
Mature candidates with non standard qualifications, as well as graduates with only a lower second class degree (2.2), will be considered provided they can demonstrate significant, relevant occupational experience. Information on application procedures and English language requirements for candidates whose first language is not English are on Brunel's website.
Career Opportunities
Brunel University has an excellent record of graduate employability, and Business School graduates are sought after by local and international organisations.
