In England, Wales and Scotland, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulates the health, safety and welfare aspects of the workplace and work environment. The majority of the qualifications that the HSE accredit are first aid related and might focus on using first aid at work, on children or in emergencies. As an independent regulator, the HSE focuses on serving the public, and aims to reduce the number of work-related death and serious injuries, looking at issues such as the treatment of pregnant women and the regulation of temperature in the office.

IOSH is committed to developing sustainable, healthy and safe conditions in a variety of different environments. The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health is also a membership body that develops and accredits health and safety training courses with the goal of producing qualified safety practitioners. IOSH aims to highlight the importance of health and safety through running campaigns in schools and businesses.
