This course is for science graduates wishing to become physiotherapists. This is not appropriate for holders of any UK or overseas physiotherapy/physical therapy qualifications. It is clinically orientated with over the minimum requirement of 1,000 hours of professional practice and rigorous complementary academic content. We combine a strong emphasis on scientific research, evidence-based clinical practice and critical and analytical learning. We aim to produce physiotherapists who are capable of working in the changing healthcare environment. The course integrates teaching and learning from core basic, psychological and social sciences with all physiotherapy practice modules. Further modules include Reflection on Current Practice 1 and 2, Rehabilitation and Exercise, and a research project.
An Honours degree (2.1 or above) in biomedical sciences or relevant disciplines such as psychology and sports science or the equivalent overseas qualifications; in addition a good A-level or equivalent profile is required, plus experience in statistics; research methods and/or a dissertation at degree level; ability to critically evaluate material and study independently.
