Who is the course for?
This 10 week course is open to students who have little or no experience of dressmaking
What is the course about?
You will learn:-
Basic Sewing techniques
How to take accurate body measurements
How to use a commercial dressmaking pattern, including simple fitting adjustments.
Making a garment for a commercial pattern.
Are there any course requirements?
Do I need to bring anything?
You will need to bring your own sewing machine as these are not supplied by the college, and you will need to know how it works please. Also please bring the following basic sewing items
Dressmaking scissors, small scissors (for snipping thread), a tape measure, pins, needles and thread.
Are there any other costs?
A commercial pattern (e.g. Vogue, Butterick, simplicity) plus the required fabric, matching thread and any other finishing items as stated on the pattern. These will be discussed during your course
Other useful information
Fabric remnants for practise will be supplied by your tutor.
