About this course

Cognitive Rehabilitation MSc: Students study the cognitive processes that underlie perception, memory, attention and executive function and the variety of clinical disorders that have distinct effects on cognitive processes; they also learn about the consequences of injuries to specific regions of the brain, cognitive changes associated with development through the lifespan and the impact of emotional, behavioural, social and psychological functioning; the course focuses on recent theoretical approaches to individualised holistic care based on cognitive assessment, realistic goal setting and the design and evaluation of evidence-based interventions that may help with restoration or compensation; students can choose a work experience module or select a more in-depth independent research project.


Core modules: clinical neuroscience;cognitive neuropsychology; cognitive rehabilitation interventions; data handling for applied psychology; physiology and anatomy of the brain; principles of cognitive rehabilitation; research project with portfolio.

Additional entry requirements

1st degree in psychology, life sciences, or allied health professions; students should be able to demonstrate necessary experience or knowledge in essential biology, psychology or health; in addition to a fundamental understanding of basic neuroscience, students also require some research skills, including some experience of experimental design, statistical analysis and report writing; students need fluent written and spoken English to study at postgraduate level; if an applicant's 1st language is not English, they need an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
