I attended two days intensive course in adobe after effects for beginners at LCC (london college of communication). It was very intense and perhaps it would be better to have it split in more days, however, the tutor, Zak, is very passionate about the subject and gave us all the tools and tips to get started. I would definitely recommend it!
I decided to get a short course this summer for the first time ever and could not have chosen better. I am a TV professor myself in Brazil and was positively surprised with the high level of this particular course, which brought me new knowledge and cases around a subject I already had some familiarity. The tutor was super nice and engaging us to develope new ways of elaborating our ideas in a smart professional mood. And LCC has also an amazing atmosphere. Will definitely come back!
I thought the course was an excellent overview into copywriting. All of the main copywriting theories were covered and also how they work in practice. The second half was also brilliant as it was linked back to how great copywriting translates into digital. It was also relevant to people's roles as the speaker had looked at roles before the session to incorporate skills. Great practical tasks throughout the day as well.
Dominic is a great teacher and I leart a lot. I would prefer to have the couse once a week (instead all the course in a week) to have more time to experiment and develope the projects, but I liked it anyway and found it really useful. The methodology was also good (Dominic helped each of us separately during the exercises, we commented others projects, he gave us useful web links and we also learnt about great typographers and designers.). We also had a pause of 10min per hour so we could grab a coffee or just give our eyes a break.
I did the 3 weeks course "Editorial Styling and Creative Direction" exactly 1 year ago, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The tutor, John William, was very informed and knowledgeable and shared with us many practical tips that you can't learn from books. He was very generous with his knowledge and always cared to answer all our questions. We learned the higher principles of styling and creative direction. The first part of the course began with a complete revision of the history of fashion photography and styling, we analyze the most important magazines and publications to date and discussed cultural differences and how fashion impacts society and vice-versa. We visited exhibitions, art galleries and museums; high-end fashion stores and local markets. We learned how to contact and interact with PR's, how to book models, acquire clothes for shootings and how to put our portfolio together to sell our work. We were assigned group and individual styling sessions and had the chance to work with a professional photographer, an amazing MUA and great models. During the process you learn to work on a budget, to listen to each other and to resolve conflicts within a group. The result is incredible creative and professional, and all the photos were edited and published in a small magazine created by us. I felt it was a great environment to creat friendships with your classmates and to learn from each other. After the course I have continue working on my blog, but taking it to the next level, and also doing styling for independent magazines. I strongly recommend this course. Ignacia.
