Salt & Copper Sulphate Etching on Aluminium (Booked online with Hotcourses)
by maureen - May 2014

Fascinating process and now safer than my previous (historic!) experience. I love the depth of image etching produces. Expert tuition and when I was on the course there were art works displayed around for the open studio event which added to the enjoyment. Also hard work as it is a process and as such requires concentration. Everyone on the course came prepared with ideas so also had art backgrounds but even if a novice I am sure the energy of the group would be an advantage. Beautiful old printing equipment on the unit - still in use by the regular artists on site. I was fortunate to be in a small group as there is an element of waiting for assistance with such an interesting but staged process.

A quicker option print method so rewarding in that respect especially if you like drawing but want a second dimension to the image. You can also add areas of colour as you want. I am more familiar with etching so particularly liked the simplicity of the process.

Wood Engraving

Thoroughly enjoyed this two day course. Staff at St. Barnabas Press were very welcoming. The tutor was excellent, approachable, friendly, informative and very encouraging. An added bonus was that she opted to lead the course at all, as there were only two students! Perhaps other people would have cancelled. I for one am very pleased she didn't. The course was excellent.
