Our student services team will also offer you support, from the day you apply to the day you graduate and beyond.
The best way you can get a feel of whether a place is right for you is to visit one of our open events, view the facilities, speak to current students and also our tutors. So why not pop along to one of our open events and see for yourself.
Once you’ve finished your A-levels or vocational course your journey doesn’t have to end, we work in partnership with the University of Essex and University of the Arts London to offer you a great range of degrees and university level programmes at our dedicated University Centre Southend & Thurrock.
Our carefully selected adult skills courses are aimed at supporting adults to achieve their goals and ambitions in life at whatever stage they choose to re-enter the world of education. In designing our courses, we have sought feedback from key employers from across the region and have specifically tailored our courses to address skills gaps in these organisations to help get people into the jobs that employers are looking to fill.
We also offer Evening and Weekend college courses, the relaxed side of studying where you can study for a professional qualification or a fun course in a wide variety of general interest subjects.
Here’s what some of our students had to say about studying at South Essex College:
“I really enjoyed the course, the staff were all ex- military and ex-public services personnel so they all knew their stuff. I made a lot of good friends while I was at the College too.
I now work as a police officer for the Metropolitan Police in Barking and Dagenham Borough.
My time at South Essex College helped me with my career because as I said the staff were trained in public services and taught me things that people outside of the profession wouldn’t know. They could tell me their experience of doing the job.
My ambition is to stay as a police officer for a while as I do enjoy being on the response unit, but In the future who knows? Maybe the dog unit or the marine unit would be interesting.”
“The best thing about doing further education is that it has provided me with the technical skills and information I needed to succeed. At South Essex College the textiles print facilities were fantastic and you were also provided with your own studio space in which to do your work.I made lifelong friendships at the College and the teaching staff made my experience a positive and successful one.
Going to college really gave me a confidence boost. The skills I learnt and developed whilst I was studying there gave me a better knowledge of techniques than a lot of Colleges so I was prepared when I started at university.”
