Fantastic course, fantastic teacher. Anita brought the course alive using every variety of teaching method possible. Her knowledge and passion of the subject is second to none, along with her dry wit, compassion and her genuine drive for each and everyone of us to do our best, not just pass but do our very best. Thank you so much Anita and MSCM - truly empowering! xx
The perfect course for those therapists who want to build on their basic massage skills and treat remedially but are not interested in sports massage (though MSCM also offer a Sports Massage course for which a few modules overlap). The tutor has the perfect balance of teaching in a relaxed, fun but professional manner, so because you are relaxed you easily absorb the new information and skills. The modular nature of the course means that the theory learnt in the morning provides a good foundation for the related practical session in the afternoon. The class size and interactive nature of the lessons means that faster and slower learners are equally catered for. However, you will still need to put in time at home to reinforce the theory and practical work covered in class as well as completing case studies. The course gives you the practical skills and underpinning knowledge to think for yourself so you can assess and treat specific problems, so don't expect to learn a set of routines. I had previously studied a BTEC Level 5 Sports and Remedial course but still found I learnt lots of new practical techniques and added to my theoretical knowledge. I had quite a few 'eureka' moments when various bits of information suddenly fell into place and I understood why a technique worked or how to treat a particular problem. Would definitely recommend the course to newly qualified massage therapists and to experienced therapists.
The moment I sat in one of their taster days nine years ago, I was struck by the passion of the tutors and the realisation that my ?non realistic? dream of being a massage therapist was in fact very realistic, achievable and exciting! I wanted to learn to massage properly and be able to actually help people that had ailments not just "pamper them" with a set routine. MSCM give you the tools and the training to be that type of therapist. Over the last nine years, I have trained with MSCM for ITEC diplomas in Anatomy and Physiology, Massage, Indian head, Reflexology and loads of other bits too! Every course is presented within a relaxed atmosphere but you work hard & learn well. From the basics of towel management to the brain confusing anatomy of the body, they?ve got the training so perfect that I feel it made it all seem almost easy. I?ve always been able to go into exams knowing that it would have to be a really bad day for me to fail as you are taught to such a high standard, it?s almost impossible to not do well. All of the tutors have passion for what they teach and that has always inspired me. I guess the other important thing to say is that I now have a very busy, thriving business with customers that return regularly, some of whom have been clients now for over 6 years.... you don?t get that if you?re no good at your basics and in order to keep that going, I will be starting another of their excellent post grad courses in October to make me an even more awesome therapist!
A great course with marvelous support & tuition. I would highly recommend this course to anyone about to embark on a career in complementary therapy.
So far I have done theory, practical & two CPD courses with MSCM. I have three more workshops booked with them already and I wouldn't go anywhere else, even though I have several places nearer by that I could attend. The teaching is second to none, not just the information that is presented but the way in which it is delivered. A really great school.
