Bishopsgate Institute is a Grade II* listed Arts and Crafts style building on Bishopsgate, in the City of London, just two minutes walk from Liverpool Street station and Spitalfields Market.
Since 1894, Bishopsgate Institute has been welcoming people with an interest in learning and culture. We continue to do this in the present day through our flourishing Courses for Adults programme, regular cultural events, and world renowned library and archive collections.
This is a Friday night course at the National. Its late opening creates an excellent atmosphere as the gallery gradually empties. The choice of pictures for the night is based on a clear theme and the pictures are always well chosen. The tutor is highly knowledgeable and engaging and makes quite complex ideas accessible to the willing amateur like myself. I have learnt from this course how to really look at pictures and I have found it thrilling.
As a new recruit to the History of Art this course opened up a whole new world to me, not just the wonderful pictures but the enthusiasm, knowledge and professionalism of the tutor. It blew me away and I haven't stopped looking for new courses since.
Lovely tutor, think the course will get better and better. Wide range of level and experience, but that's cool!! As we all get to workshop our work and it's a good, positive vibe in the room. I am really attending to workshop my work so it's perfect for me. Barbara is wonderful.
