There’s something pretty homely about Ashford College, summed up perfectly when they call themselves ‘the local college for the local population.’ Offering a number of courses to learners around Ashford and East Kent, whether you are looking for your next step after secondary school, or a complete career change, you’ll find something to suit you. We particularly like the sound of the student support, which lies at the heart of the college’s ethos. What’s more, Ashford is part of the Hadlow College Group, made up of Hadlow College and West Kent College, ensuring the high standard of teaching remains consistent across all courses.
Ashford College welcomes students at our campus on Jemmett Road, boasting high quality resources and facilities. A number of our facilities are open to the public and run in association with our students, providing them with real-life work experience.
We offer a variety of courses in a range of subject areas, such as Art & Design, Business, Catering, Construction, Hair & Beauty, IT & Computing, Media, Performing Arts, Science and more. Our mission is to support all our students to achieve their full potential and aspire to excellence.
The Jemmett Road campus is near Victoria Park and a short walking distance from the town centre and train station. The campus is well-equipped, with a multi-media Learning Resource Centre, photography studios and darkrooms, professional kitchens, motor vehicle workshops, bricklaying and plastering workshops, a new plumbing workshop and hair and beauty salons.
Students have access to a rectory run by the catering students and a food outlet where you can grab a snack.
Preparing for Work
Ashford College has close links with a wide range of local employers. As well as training thousands of adults, many of whom are employed across the South East, the College works with around 1,500 employers and partners.
Our aim is to prepare you for working life in your chosen career or for progression on to higher qualifications leading to work. As part of your course you will undertake additional qualifications designed to prepare you for work.
Ashford College work together with Hadlow College and West Kent College to provide high quality Apprenticeships training across the South East.
An Apprenticeship is a mix of work experience with your employer and study time at College to achieve a recognised work-related qualification. You'll earn a wage and benefit from the same rights as other employees (work hours and holidays) whilst gaining valuable skills and experience.
